Under the Umbrella is just one of over 230 businesses represented by the Utah LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce. This year, Cyprus Credit Union is partnering with the chamber to highlight the contributions of our LGBTQ+ neighbors by awarding 12 grants of $1,000 each to queer-owned businesses. Kaitlyn is the recipient of the credit union’s first grant.
The students at Guadalupe School in Salt Lake City have some new books in their hands, thanks to the "If You Give A Child A Book..." initiative. Cyprus Credit Union has teamed up with FOX 13 News, the Scripps Howard Fund, Scholastic, and our amazing community supporters to provide over 2,000 free books to children in Utah. We believe that access to books is crucial for a child's development, and we're honored to be a part of this effort to make a positive impact in our community.

Cyprus Credit Union is teaming up with KSL NewsRadio to honor Utah teachers. Each month, one teacher will be randomly selected from a pool of nominees to be publicly recognized. The teacher who is selected will receive a $500 Visa gift card from Cyprus Credit Union, two season tickets to Hale Centre Theatre, a $250 gift card to Harmon’s, and be featured on KSL NewsRadio's Teacher Tribute Wall.
Last week marked Cyprus’ first volunteer night of the year with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Families traveling to Salt Lake City to receive medical care for their children often rely on RMHC for food, lodging, and a much-needed place to recharge. Cyprus employees had the pleasure of serving dinner to about 65 guests at the Ronald McDonald Family Room in Primary Children's Hospital.
Cyprus Credit Union is proud to announce its partnership with Women’s Business Center of Utah (WBCUtah). WBCUtah helps women throughout the state to build and strengthen their businesses with resources including one-on-one business advising, workshops and trainings, and online webinars and courses. With our “all in” partnership, Cyprus will provide finance classes for women business owners all over Utah during 2023.

Our North Salt Lake branch is finally open! Located at 450 E. 1100 N. in North Salt Lake, the branch is Cyprus Credit Union’s first freestanding office in Davis County. Yesterday’s grand-opening celebration was kicked off by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Cyprus representatives, community members, and the Davis Chamber of Commerce in attendance. We’re excited to continue providing excellent service to our members in Davis County and look forward to making new connections in the area.
Cyprus Credit Union was excited to participate in Hurricane City’s 24th annual “Peach Days: A Celebration of our Heritage” earlier this month. Representatives from our Hurricane branch were present with a booth where members of the community could meet our staff, play games for prizes, and learn more about the credit union. Cyprus’ Hurricane branch opened in June of this year as the first Cyprus location in southern Utah. Located at 250 W. State St., the branch also currently serves as the only Co-op Shared Branch in Hurricane.
Cyprus Credit Union is participating in Welcome Week at the University of Utah this week. This is an event for all students new to the campus or for those gearing up for their final semester.
Last week, Cyprus Credit Union was pleased to visit Neighborhood House in Salt Lake City and present them with a donation of baby wipes, waterproof sheets, and adult diapers. For 128 years, Neighborhood House has worked to provide affordable support and day care for both children and adults in Utah. Originally starting out as a public kindergarten, the needs of the community prompted the addition of other services, making the organization a gathering place for Utahns.
Thanks to all of our members who enrolled in electronic "eStatements," Cyprus Credit Union was able to present a check for $6,415 to TreeUtah on Thursday morning, 7/7/2022. TreeUtah plants trees throughout Utah's public spaces and carries out ecological restoration projects along the Jordan River and Wasatch Mountains.
Cyprus Credit Union’s Hurricane branch is officially open! A ribbon-cutting ceremony kicked off the grand opening on Friday, June 17 with Cyprus employees & management, city officials, community members, and others in attendance. The much-anticipated branch is the credit union’s newest location and the first to be opened in southern Utah. Currently, it also serves as the only CO-OP Shared Branch in Hurricane. Members of the credit union and the community are invited to visit the branch located at 250 W. State St. in Hurricane.
Over 150,000 diapers were donated to the Utah Diaper Bank this spring during KUTV’s first annual diaper drive. The initiative, for which Cyprus Credit Union was a proud sponsor, also generated monetary contributions from the community totaling $5,331.80. The funds were presented to the diaper bank by Cyprus this past Tuesday, June 7.
The Utah Diaper Bank was founded in 2013 by Vic Velivis. The organization currently distributes an average of 75,000 diapers per month. To learn more about the Utah Diaper Bank, visit their website here
Cyprus congratulates the 11 winners of the credit union’s 2022 scholarship program. Each of the high school seniors were presented with a check for $1,000 in May to go toward their continuing education. We wish them all the best in their college careers!
20 new trees now have a home in Westpointe Park in Salt Lake City. Cyprus employees volunteered to help plant the trees at a public planting event hosted by TreeUtah last Saturday, May 14, 2022. Thank you for all who came out to help with the event.

Cyprus Credit Union is honored to have been awarded and recognized by People Helping People (PHP) at their Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Event on April 21st. The award followed the non-profit's Resume Readiness Day last month, in which Cyprus employees assisted PHP by reviewing their clients' resumes.
PHP is an organization "dedicated to helping low-income women and single moms reach their full potential in the workplace” (phputah.org).
Cyprus Credit Union Mini-Grants are now available for teachers to fund innovative and creative classroom projects that enrich standard curriculum and enhance learning opportunities for students. Funds may also be used to purchase supplemental supplies.
