Chihan Kim started his glove manufacturing business in 2007 with the intention of providing cutting-edge technology for hand-based personal protective equipment. He developed a patented rubber coating which provides the thinnest cut-resistant glove. These gloves are used by DIYers, plumbers, HVAC technicians, delivery drivers and anyone else who works with their hands.
The most satisfying reason Chihan finds from owning his own business is creating something that provides work and income for others in the community. He said being a business owner can be stressful but it’s part of the many challenges that make owning a business worth it. His son is now helping run the growing business which has helped ease some of his stress. Chihan’s advice to new business owners: “never underestimate the power of building an effective minimum viable product,” and making sure you have a process that allows you to test your product before investing too much into it.
