Dictionaries for Students

Cyprus representative presents class with dictionaries.

For the last 10 years, Cyprus Credit Union has partnered with the West Jordan Rotary Club to provide every third grade student in the city a dictionary. This year, more than 3000 will benefit from this initiative.

This school year, the credit union will bring the dictionaries to 620 students. The goal of this program is to promote the importance of learning at a young age and establish sound habits for the future. The dictionary will be a reference the students will be able to use throughout elementary school and junior high.

Throughout the school year a representative from Cyprus delivered the dictionaries and discussed the importance of learning with the students. With every presentation, the representative shows the features of the dictionary including the longest word consisting of 1909 letters.

The service is not limited to public schools. The rotary provides the dictionaries to private and charter schools as well. By the end of the year, the rotary club hopes to ensure every third grade student has a dictionary.
